We are examining the optimal value of various parameters, such as selection of the carbon fiber used for Matrix and Filler, and mixed rate, and have tried realization of high thermal conductivity.

Although the application in which the mechanical property of a composite material was employed efficiently is developed widely, paying attention to the thermal characteristic of a composite material, it is inquiring at this laboratory now.

The book reaches a wide audience abroad. Application of a composite material, aerospace field and sporting goods, such as a tennis racket, golf club, engineering-works construction, etc. reach far and wide.

The composite material consists of Matrix and Filler, metal, resin, and ceramics are mainly used for Matrix, and various materials, such as carbon, and glass, ceramics, metal, is used for Filler. When carbon fiber is used as Filler, it is known generally that the characteristic of it being lightweight and becoming high intensity and high elasticity is shown. There are Carbon Fiber Rein-forced Plastics; CFRP which used resin for Matrix and used carbon fiber for Filler in some which are widely used as a composite material. As other composite materials, Carbon Fiber Rein-forced Metals; CFRM which used metal for Matrix, and Carbon Fiber Rein-forced Ceramics; CFRC using ceramics are mentioned.

Recently, the composite material using carbon fiber is applied in the broad field.

Now, the application in which the mechanical property of composite material was employed efficiently is developed widely. However, at this laboratory, it is inquiring paying attention to the thermal characteristic of composite material. Since CNT and various carbon fiber are said to show high thermal conductivity, the use as a heat dissipation material is expected with constituting a composite material using these.
